Chief of Police - Mark Nathan Overton

OVERTON_M.jpgChief Mark Nathan Overton was appointed as Bal Harbour Village’s Police Chief on January 6, 2014.
 
Chief Mark N. Overton, was born in the City of Miami Beach in 1962. His family moved to the City of Hialeah shortly thereafter. The Overton family remained in Hialeah as he grew up and where he graduated from Hialeah Senior High School in 1981.
 
In 1984, at the age of 21, Chief Overton joined the Hialeah Police Department. While at the Hialeah Police Department, he served in the Patrol Division, Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team, Criminal Investigations, and Narcotics/Special Investigations. His ascent through the ranks included serving as a Detective, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, and Deputy Chief, reaching the rank of Chief in November of 2007.
 
In March 2012, after 28 years of service Chief Overton, retired from the Hialeah Police Department and accepted a position as the Deputy Chief for the Miami Beach Police Department.

Chief Overton has a bachelors degree in Public Administration from Barry University. He has completed the prestigious Command Officer's Development course, as well as the National Sheriff's Association Executive Leadership program.
 
Throughout his law enforcement career, Chief Overton has received several career honors and awards to include but not limited to Officer of the Year, the Purple heart, Combat Cross, Distinguished Service, Outstanding Supervisor, and Administrative Excellence.
